Frequently Asked Questions

NDIS INFO

  • What is the NDIS, and how does it work?

The NDIS is a government-funded national scheme that provides funding to eligible people with disability. The funding is there to assist people to enjoy more time with significant people in their life, achieve greater independence, build new skills, access jobs or volunteering in their community, and improve their quality of life. The NDIS also connects anyone with a disability to services in their community. This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools.

  • What supports are funded by the NDIS?

The types of supports funded by the NDIS depend on the individual disability-related needs of the eligible person. A wide range of support and services are available to NDIS participants, including assistance with daily personal activities, transport, access to therapeutic supports, aids and equipment, home modification and vehicle modification, amongst many others.

  • What if I don’t agree with the funding in my NDIS plan?

If you feel the funding in your NDIS plan isn’t appropriate for your needs or that support is missing, you can apply to the NDIS to review the plan. If you have funding for a Support Coordinator or Psychosocial Recovery Coach in your plan, they will assist you in going through this process.
